You will lead the analysis, design, and implementation of electrical grounding systems for industrial or commercial power systems.
Responsibilities
Perform detailed grounding studies, including modeling of ground resistance, fault currents, and step and touch potentials.
Design grounding solutions for new electrical power systems through engineering calculations and simulations.
Identify hazards related to electromagnetic interference and lightning strikes to develop mitigation strategies for personnel safety and equipment protection.
Investigate grounding-related failures using diagnostic techniques and root cause analysis to implement corrective actions.
Prepare technical documentation and reports summarizing analysis results, system modifications, and regulatory compliance.
Required Skills
5+ years of experience in electrical engineering focused on power systems and electrical distribution.
Proven expertise in conducting grounding studies and analysis.
Proficiency with industry-standard power system analysis software such as ETAP or PSS/E.
Strong understanding of grounding principles and system design.
Knowledge of electrical safety practices, including PPE and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as IEEE, NFPA, and IEC.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Preferred Skills
Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility for licensure.
Experience within the energy, utilities, or manufacturing sectors.
