Description

You will design, operationalize, maintain, and scale production Kafka clusters. You will own the reliability, capacity, and performance of the infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design and scale production Kafka clusters to ensure high availability and performance.
• Write automation code for managing, monitoring, measuring, and healing clusters.
• Perform Kafka tuning, capacity planning, and develop replication strategies.
• Conduct deep-dive troubleshooting to identify root causes during incidents.
• Participate in an occasional on-call rotation to support infrastructure.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of software engineering experience focused on operations.
• Hands-on experience managing production Kafka clusters.
• In-depth understanding of Kafka internals, ZooKeeper, partitioning, and schema registry.
• Experience with topic replication and mirroring.
• Knowledge of Kafka security, bandwidth limiting, client quotas, and backup/restoration.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting complex distributed systems.
• Degree in any graduate field.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with both cloud-native and on-premise Kafka architectures.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and open-source or enterprise Kafka products.
