Description

You will lead mainframe modernization efforts by bridging legacy COBOL and DB2 systems with modern Linux and Java applications.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance Java applications running on Linux.
• Lead modernization projects connecting COBOL, JCL, and DB2 systems with modern infrastructures.
• Conduct design and code reviews to uphold coding standards across the team.
• Automate build, operation, and run aspects of software using CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with product owners on prioritization and partner with DevOps on deployment automation.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of software development experience.
• 5+ years of experience in Java and Linux environments with strong shell scripting skills.
• Hands-on experience with IBM mainframe technologies including COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and z/OS.
• Expertise in SQL queries and relational databases such as DB2, Oracle, and PostgreSQL.
• 2+ years of experience with file transfer applications like Connect Direct and protocols such as SFTP or FTPs.
• Experience orchestrating release workflows using tools like Jenkins or XL Release.
• Knowledge of secure coding standards including OWASP, CWE, or SEI CERT.
• Familiarity with security standards including X.509 Certificates, SSH Keys, and PGP encryption.
• Understanding of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
