Description
You will lead database operations strategy and manage a team of DBAs and database engineers to ensure performance, security, scalability, and high availability.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of DBAs and engineers through coaching, career development, and technical guidance.
- Drive architectural decisions for data storage, replication, disaster recovery, and reliability in cloud and hybrid environments.
- Own the health and lifecycle of all database environments, including SQL Server instances on-premises and in the cloud.
- Define and maintain policies, standards, and procedures for database management and operations.
- Implement security policies, including encryption, access control, and auditing.
- Manage capacity planning, resource scaling, and performance tuning initiatives such as indexing and query optimization.
- Establish monitoring, alerting, and incident response mechanisms to maintain RPO/RTO compliance.
Required Skills
- 15 years of total experience with 10+ years of hands-on Microsoft SQL Server administration (2016 and newer).
- Expertise in T-SQL and PowerShell.
- Deep knowledge of SQL Server internals, Always On Availability Groups, replication, and clustering.
- Proficiency with relational databases including SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
- Experience with NoSQL technologies including Redis, MongoDB, and Cassandra.
- Experience managing SQL Server in cloud platforms such as Azure SQL or AWS RDS.
- Proven ability to design and run large-scale, distributed database systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Preferred Skills
- 5+ years of team leadership or management experience in a database operations role.
- Familiarity with Dynatrace and AWS infrastructure.
