Position Summary

Our direct client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Telecom Design Engineer with a BICSI RCDD certification to join our Infrastructure Engineering team. This role will focus on supporting new build projects in Austin, Corpus Christi, other Texas initiatives, and upcoming manufacturing-related projects.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with Construction, Manufacturing Engineers, and IT Networking teams to define requirements, develop designs, and ensure successful project execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare comprehensive drawing packages, including site plans, floor plans, enlarged communication room layouts, equipment rack/cabinet elevations, backbone schematics, and infrastructure design details.
  • Perform structured cabling and infrastructure design coordination with architects and multiple engineering disciplines to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Develop design drawings and specifications for future project sites, including Division 27 & 28 systems specifications.
  • Conduct field surveys and generate reports during programming, construction, and post-construction phases to ensure adherence to company standards and best practices.
  • Prepare cable pathway fill calculations and provide opinions-of-probable costs for network infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinate network infrastructure design with civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, architectural, and door locking hardware engineering disciplines.
  • Ensure compliance with established design practices, applicable codes, technical standards, and construction adequacy.
  • Collaborate with internal and external project teams from concept to completion by attending meetings, conducting site visits, responding to RFIs (Requests for Information), and reviewing submittals.
  • Work within a BIM (Building Information Modeling) environment; proficiency in Revit and NavisWorks is required. Collaborate with BIM modelers during design development and documentation.
  • Ensure all technology systems are seamlessly incorporated into the overall system design while working in a team environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience in telecommunications or infrastructure design.
  • Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification (a major plus).
  • 3+ years of relevant experience as an RCDD in telecom or structured cabling design.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk CAD programs such as Revit, NavisWorks, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of communications system design principles and best practices.
  • Excellent coordination skills with the ability to work across multiple disciplines in a collaborative environment
