Description

You will own the mechanical design of next-generation ThinkSystem servers, from concept to validation.

Responsibilities

• Create in-house server designs including PCB layouts, structural sheet metal enclosures, and plastic part designs.
• Develop and validate design concepts in collaboration with system and power architects.
• Write test plans and conduct thermal tests to qualify designs against business requirements.
• Analyze mechanical solutions to optimize cost versus performance and resolve design bugs.
• Contribute to common building block designs used across the server portfolio.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years of experience in mechanical engineering for server or datacenter products.
• Expert proficiency in PTC Creo for 3D computer-aided design.
• Experience with PTC Windchill for CAD data file management.
• Strong skills in sheet metal and plastic part design.
• Ability to manage engineering changes, create bill of materials, and perform cost estimating.
• Proficiency in tolerance analysis and knowledge of server industry compliance standards.

Preferred Skills

• Master’s Degree or research experience in the relevant field.
• Hands-on experience assembling and testing servers with basic mechanical tools.
• Code skills (Matlab, Python, or Java) to automate data collection and report generation.
