Description

Lead a structural engineering team managing technical projects and personnel in Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities

• Design bridge, culvert, and retaining wall structures while performing field investigations.
• Prepare structural plans, specifications, cost estimates, and permit applications.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and progress reports ensuring QA/QC compliance.
• Manage client relationships and assist in marketing services and proposal preparation.
• Mentor and train team members to foster technical expertise and knowledge sharing.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of experience in the transportation market.
• Expertise in bridge and roadway structures, including superstructure, substructure, retaining walls, and foundation systems.
• Proficiency with AASHTO, IDOT, ISTHA, and AREMA codes and standards.
• Bachelor’s degree in structural or civil engineering.
• Active Illinois PE license.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, MicroStation, and/or AutoCAD.
• Strong leadership, project coordination, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Master’s degree in structural engineering or SE licensure.
• NHI bridge inspection training.
• Experience with GeoPak, Open Bridge Modeler, Civil 3D, or structural calculation tools like Midas, DCalc, ConSpan, STAAD, LEAP, MDX, or LPile.
