Description

Manage and maintain MS SQL Server and Sybase database environments, ensuring high availability and performance. Own the release pipeline for database infrastructure and support critical production systems.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all database servers are backed up to meet Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and test them against Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
• Install, configure, upgrade, and migrate new MS SQL Servers, including configuring Always On, Clustering, log shipping, or mirroring.
• Troubleshoot MS SQL Server service outages and participate in on-call rotations for after-hours and weekend support.
• Diagnose performance issues by evaluating hardware, server configurations, or index and query changes.
• Manage technical bridges during critical incidents.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of experience in database administration.
• Hands-on experience with MS SQL Server and Sybase administration.
• Proficiency with Always On, Log Shipping, and Windows Clustering.
• Experience troubleshooting MS SQL performance and Windows/MS SQL cluster issues.
• Ability to use DMV queries to analyze server-level performance.
• Expertise in tuning MS SQL queries to improve performance.
• Experience with index and query changes for optimization.
• Proven track record of on-call troubleshooting.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Windows Azure database technologies.
