Description

You will architect, manage, and optimize a critical IMS DC environment to ensure seamless real-time transaction processing.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain IMS DC configurations, including message queues, message regions, and program specifications.
• Configure and troubleshoot IMS Connect, OTMA, and SNA communication protocols.
• Optimize message routing, prioritization, and processing flows.
• Monitor system performance to identify bottlenecks and implement tuning techniques for maximum throughput.
• Diagnose and resolve complex IMS DC issues such as queue congestion, communication failures, and system hangs.
• Enforce security policies, manage user access controls, and implement secure communication protocols.
• Forecast capacity requirements and plan for system upgrades and scalability.
• Develop scripts and automation tools to streamline administration tasks.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of experience in system administration or mainframe environments.
• Expert-level understanding of IMS DC architecture, message formats, and transaction processing.
• Proficiency in Assembler, PL/I, or COBOL for customization and troubleshooting.
• Experience with IMS Connect, OTMA, and SNA protocols.
• Proven ability to analyze performance metrics and implement tuning strategies.
• Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve complex IMS DC issues under pressure.
• Ability to collaborate with network administrators and application teams.
