Description

Manage Linux server administration, patching, and monitoring for on-premise infrastructure. Lead the transition away from VMware and support private cloud buildout.

Responsibilities

• Administer Red Hat Linux servers, ensuring stability, uptime, and environmental reliability.
• Execute patching, backup, and vulnerability management using AutoBox and Rapid7.
• Monitor systems via Nagios, SolarWinds, and WhatsUp Gold; stabilize listservs and incident response.
• Maintain runbooks, system diagrams, and operational documentation for configuration and change management.
• Support virtualization migration and contribute to automation initiatives in Azure and AWS.

Required Skills

• 5+ years experience with Linux systems administration (Red Hat strongly preferred).
• Hands-on experience with monitoring tools: Nagios, SolarWinds, or WhatsUp Gold.
• Proficiency in virtualization platforms, with experience transitioning away from VMware.
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms, specifically Azure and AWS.
• Understanding of data center operations, networking fundamentals, and patch management processes.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and professional communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Linux+, Red Hat, Microsoft, or AWS.
