Description

You will own the setup, maintenance, and verification of data collection software and hardware, including OS/firmware updates and sensor integration. You will debug C++ code, analyze errors, and collaborate with research engineers and scientists to validate product quality. Your role involves designing and executing experiments, commissioning automation for robotics, and operating complex measurement equipment. You will also perform device calibration and document processes alongside the core team.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain data collection software and hardware, including OS/firmware updates and sensor connections.
• Debug basic software (C++) and perform error analysis while communicating findings to research teams.
• Design and execute experiments to validate product quality and investigate hardware/software issues.
• Commission and operate complex measurement and test equipment for device calibration and verification.
• Document processes and techniques for hardware bring-up and automation procedures.

Required Skills

• BSc, MSc, or PhD in Physics, Mathematics, Aerospace Engineering, Optical Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in software development using C++ or Python following best practices.
• Hardware engineering background (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Systems, or Optical) with system-level troubleshooting skills.
• Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, optical, firmware, OS, and software failures.
• Ability to design and commission automation procedures for robotics experiments.
• Strong documentation skills for processes and techniques.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in applied research or product development involving joint hardware/software design and integration.
• Knowledge of optics (imaging, illumination, radiometry, photometry, polarization) and statistical methods for data analytics.
• Conversational proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin).
