Own backend system architecture and delivery while leading a team of engineers to mentor, review code, and enforce best practices.

This role is hybrid.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of backend engineers, conducting code reviews and enforcing engineering standards.
• Own user stories independently from design and development through testing, deployment, and production support.
• Drive architecture and design decisions for scalable, secure backend systems and resolve technical challenges.
• Collaborate with clients to gather requirements, provide estimates, and communicate progress.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and ensure smooth releases via CI/CD pipelines.

Required Skills

• 12+ years of experience with Java 21 and Spring Boot.
• Strong experience building Microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, including EKS (Kubernetes), IAM, VPC, Security Groups, and Route 53.
• Experience with messaging platforms such as IBM MQ and/or Apache Kafka.
• Proficiency with Docker, containerized application development, and Amazon EKS resources (Deployments, Services, ConfigMaps, Secrets).
• Experience with AWS Glue, including Glue Jobs, Crawlers, Data Catalog, and ETL workflows.
• Database experience with DynamoDB and PostgreSQL.
• Understanding of API gateway/proxy solutions (MuleSoft, AWS API Gateway, Apigee, Kong).
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and monitoring tools like Splunk, Dynatrace, and Amazon CloudWatch.

Preferred Skills

• Strong client-facing communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and independently owning technical deliverables.
