Good to Have Skills: JPQL, CriteriaBuilder, Maven, Eclipse Tycho, CI/CD pipelines, JVM tuning, Agile/Scrum methodologies, enterprise software architecture, object-oriented development, clean code and design patterns, modularisation of applications, legacy system evolution, automated build and release processes. Experience working in regulated or complex operational environments such as Forensics and LIMS systems would be beneficial.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Own and contribute to architecture and development of enterprise Java applications within the eLIMS-Forensics programme.
- Provide technical guidance on design and implementation across distributed development teams in UK, Europe, nearshore and offshore locations.
- Support modernisation and evolution of legacy forensic systems ensuring robust, scalable and compliant solutions.
- Ensure scalable, maintainable and high-performance solutions are delivered across forensic case management and LIMS platforms.
- Share knowledge and support capability development across nearshore and offshore teams through training and mentoring.
- Collaborate with product, QA, DevOps and architecture stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Develop enterprise applications across client and server components using modern Java technologies and frameworks.
- Define software architecture for enterprise applications applying object-oriented design and established design patterns.
- Design and optimise backend services and data models ensuring scalability, integrity and performance of data-intensive systems.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps and manage containerised environments using Docker.
- Perform performance profiling and optimisation including JVM tuning to support production stability and continuous improvement.
- Act as a technical interface between business and IT teams within Agile/Scrum delivery frameworks.
Experience Required: Extensive experience (10+ years) in enterprise Java development and DevOps practices with proven experience in architecture and hands-on development.
Education: Bachelor's in Engineering or Master's in Computer Science or equivalent degree
