What’s the Job?

We are looking for a Technical Lead who will take ownership of the product from a technical standpoint-establishing direction, raising standards, and leading the engineering effort to transform and expand the platform.
This is not a maintenance role. This is a leadership role focused on stabilizing, scaling, and rebuilding where necessary.

What You Will Be Responsible For

• Assess the current system architecture, codebase, and technical debt, and establish a clear path forward
• Define and enforce development standards, architecture decisions, and engineering practices
• Lead and mentor a small team of developers, setting expectations for quality, speed, and accountability
• Architect and support scalable, enterprise-grade systems capable of long-term growth
• Drive the development of new capabilities and modernization of existing components
• Design and implement REST APIs for internal and external integrations
• Ensure system reliability, performance, and security
• Leverage modern AI-assisted development tools to accelerate development and improve quality
• Work closely with product and leadership to align technical execution with business outcomes

This role is expected to combine hands-on development + technical leadership.
This expectation is consistent with how technical leads operate—owning product performance, mentoring developers, and driving technical direction.

Must-Have Capabilities

• 5+ years of experience in full stack development, with strong focus on Python and Django
• Proven track record of architecting and supporting large-scale enterprise applications
• Strong experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
• Strong front-end development capability (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
• Demonstrated ability to write clean, well-structured, maintainable code
• Experience designing and building REST APIs
• Experience working in Agile environments with version control systems
• Experience using modern AI development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or equivalent)
• Ability to evaluate existing systems and make decisive architectural improvements

Nice-to-Have Experience

• Experience building APIs using Django REST Framework (DRF)
• Experience with Apple Wallet and/or Google Pay integrations
• Experience with Redis
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager
• Formal degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
