Description

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager (TPM) to lead delivery and execution of initiatives within the Local Payments domain. This role requires strong technical understanding, domain expertise in payment systems, and the ability to manage cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, compliant, and high-performing payment solutions.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with payment integrations, regulatory frameworks, and local clearing systems (e.g., ACH, UAEFTS, Qatar payments, etc.), combined with solid project/program management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
Project & Program Management

Lead end-to-end delivery of local payment projects, from initiation through deployment and post-launch support.
Define project scope, timelines, milestones, dependencies, and risks.
Drive execution across multiple concurrent projects using Agile/Scrum or hybrid methodologies.
Ensure timely delivery within scope, budget, and quality standards.


Technical Leadership

Collaborate with engineering teams to design and implement scalable payment solutions and integrations.
Understand system architecture, APIs, microservices, and middleware platforms supporting payments.
Review technical designs and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
Facilitate resolution of technical issues and blockers.


Local Payments Domain Expertise

Manage integrations with banking partners, payment networks, and local clearing systems.
Ensure compliance with local regulations, central bank requirements, and industry standards (e.g., PCI-DSS, AML/KYC).
Support onboarding of new payment methods (bank transfers, real-time payments, wallets) across regions.
Track market changes in local payments ecosystems and adapt strategies accordingly.


Stakeholder Management

Work closely with product managers, engineering, operations, compliance, and external partners.
Act as the primary interface for stakeholders, providing regular updates and transparency.
Manage expectations and align priorities across global and regional teams.


Risk & Compliance Management

Identify, track, and mitigate project risks, dependencies, and issues.
Ensure adherence to security, regulatory, and operational compliance standards.
Support audits and documentation for regulatory requirements.


Process Improvement

Drive continuous improvement in project delivery frameworks, tools, and governance.
Implement best practices for payments lifecycle management, monitoring, and reconciliation.
Enhance operational efficiency and reduce failure rates in payment processing.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or related field.
6–10+ years of experience in technical project/program management.
Strong experience in payments domain, specifically local/regional payment systems.
Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional technical projects.


Preferred Skills & Experience

Hands-on experience with:

Local payment schemes (UAEFTS, ACH, Qatar payments etc.)
Payment gateways and processors
Bank integrations (host-to-host, APIs, ISO 20022, SWIFT)


Strong technical knowledge of:

APIs, REST services, microservices architecture
Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
Data flows, reconciliation systems, and transaction lifecycle


Certifications (nice to have):

PMP / PRINCE2 / Agile (CSM, SAFe)
Payments certifications
