Description

You will manage the installation, customization, and maintenance of mainframe software in a 24x7x365 operational environment.

Responsibilities

• Install and customize vendor software products using established naming conventions and standards.
• Coordinate with vendors and internal application staff to manage patches, fix packs, and maintenance upgrades.
• Configure security rules using z/OS Resource Access Control Facility (RACF) and product-specific security features.
• Monitor system performance using specialized tools and perform tuning to ensure maximum throughput.
• Document new systems in user guides and compose technical bulletins regarding system changes and impacts.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience with IBM Mainframe z/OS operating systems.
• Hands-on experience with z/OS subsystems including CICS, IMS, and RACF.
• Experience with z/OS program products such as MQ and WebSphere.
• Proven track record in z/OS systems administration and third-party program product installation.
• Ability to analyze client-reported problems and coordinate corrective action plans with vendors.
• Experience scheduling and testing software upgrades during off-peak hours to mitigate production impact.
• Strong technical documentation skills for creating user guides and impact bulletins.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of distributed systems, middleware technologies, and basic networking.
