Required skills: Advanced Linux command line skills Knowledge of each applications structure and technology stack. Most are built as follows: - Apache Web - Apache Tomcat with Java - Oracle DB (there are dedicated sDBA aDBA teams that handle the servers and Oracle instances, but Tier 2 needs to understand jdbc and some basic SQL) Strong Web Application/API administration and troubleshooting skills Deep knowledge of JVMs, heap/GC tuning and administration High level understanding of IP networks, routing, with the ability to apply knowledge to new infrastructure design and production issue analysis.
