Description

You will manage the editorial and publication process for rail and transit project deliverables, acting as the primary liaison between technical authors, graphic designers, and editors.

Responsibilities

• Write, edit, and format documents ranging from technical memoranda to multi-volume reports and client-facing proposals.
• Develop document production schedules, project style guides, and company-wide editorial conventions.
• Prepare weekly and monthly dashboards and reports for project tracking.
• Review editorial efforts and serve as the lead editor for large-scale projects.
• Translate technical jargon into plain language for the general public, clients, or regulatory authorities.

Required Skills

• 6+ years of relevant experience in technical writing or demonstrated equivalence in education and experience.
• Experience writing transportation documents, including project reports, environmental documents, policies, procedures, and board resolutions.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, specifically using Track Changes and Styles functions.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and graphic design tools including PowerPoint and Visio.
• Experience navigating the engineering or railway sectors.
• Proficiency using industry-standard style guides and adhering to client or agency requirements.
• Ability to work independently under strict and aggressive deadlines.

Preferred Skills

• Intermediate skills with Adobe InDesign.
• Knowledge of and experience with 508 compliance.
• Experience working with public, state, or federal organizations.
