You will own the end-to-end design process for Boston.gov digital products, from research and usability testing to high-fidelity prototyping and design system contributions.
Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct usability tests for web applications and Boston.gov pages, synthesizing findings into actionable design recommendations.
- Translate product requirements into accessible, high-fidelity prototypes in Figma, ranging from rapid wireframes to production-ready UI.
- Document components and contribute new patterns to the Boston Design System to ensure consistency and accessibility.
- Facilitate design sessions with senior leaders and stakeholders, using data and research to guide decisions within technical and policy constraints.
- Review and advise on UX/UI work led by other teams to maintain quality and accessibility standards.
Required Skills
- 3-4 years of experience in digital product and service design.
- Expert proficiency in Figma for UI design and prototyping.
- Deep understanding of WCAG accessibility standards and implementation.
- Experience working within agile workflows.
- Strong facilitation skills for leading design sessions with complex stakeholders.
- Ability to synthesize user research and data into clear design strategies.
- Experience in government or similar public sector organizational environments.
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency in Miro or similar digital collaboration tools.
- Systems thinking ability to navigate complex technological and policy constraints.
