Description

You design and test accessible digital products for Boston.gov, translating research into high-fidelity prototypes and improving the user experience for public services.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct usability tests for web applications and city pages, synthesizing findings into actionable design recommendations.
• Create high-fidelity, accessible prototypes in Figma, ranging from rapid wireframes to production-ready UI components.
• Document components and contribute new patterns to the Boston Design System to ensure consistency.
• Facilitate design sessions with senior leaders and stakeholders, using data and research to guide decisions.
• Review and advise on UX/UI work led by other teams, ensuring alignment with accessibility and user-centered standards.

Required Skills

• Expert proficiency in Figma for UI design and prototyping.
• Deep knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.
• Experience with Agile workflows and digital product design.
• Proficiency in Miro or similar digital collaboration tools.
• Strong facilitation skills for running design sessions with complex stakeholders.
• Systems thinking ability to navigate technology, policy, and organizational constraints.
• 3-4 years of experience in digital product and service design.
• Experience in government or similar public sector environments is preferred.
