Description

You will manage the daily administration of Linux and Unix servers within a business application environment.

Responsibilities

  • Administer Linux and Unix-based servers, including monitoring trouble ticket queues and performing system troubleshooting.
  • Execute hardware and software changes, patching, system sizing, and upgrade implementations.
  • Develop scripts for automation and monitor system performance.
  • Collaborate with application administrators to fine-tune applications and provide guidance on Unix infrastructure best practices.
  • Maintain all system documentation and perform hardware diagnostics.

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in Unix/Linux administration.
  • Hands-on experience with RHEL, Suse, and AIX.
  • Proficiency with LVM device configuration and management.
  • Experience with NIM, VIOS, Jumpstart, IBM HMC, and Yum/Satellite/RMT.
  • Strong scripting skills using Shell or Python for automation.
  • Proven ability to perform Unix builds for AIX, RHEL, and Suse.
  • Working knowledge of VMware vCenter and system imaging.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP functionality and networking.
  • Experience with remote administration systems such as iLO, iLO M, or iDRAC.
  • Knowledge of HP, IBM, and Dell rack-mount server hardware.

Preferred Skills

  • Working knowledge of SaltStack configuration management.
