You will manage the daily administration of Linux and Unix servers within a business application environment.
Responsibilities
- Administer Linux and Unix-based servers, including monitoring trouble ticket queues and performing system troubleshooting.
- Execute hardware and software changes, patching, system sizing, and upgrade implementations.
- Develop scripts for automation and monitor system performance.
- Collaborate with application administrators to fine-tune applications and provide guidance on Unix infrastructure best practices.
- Maintain all system documentation and perform hardware diagnostics.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in Unix/Linux administration.
- Hands-on experience with RHEL, Suse, and AIX.
- Proficiency with LVM device configuration and management.
- Experience with NIM, VIOS, Jumpstart, IBM HMC, and Yum/Satellite/RMT.
- Strong scripting skills using Shell or Python for automation.
- Proven ability to perform Unix builds for AIX, RHEL, and Suse.
- Working knowledge of VMware vCenter and system imaging.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP functionality and networking.
- Experience with remote administration systems such as iLO, iLO M, or iDRAC.
- Knowledge of HP, IBM, and Dell rack-mount server hardware.
Preferred Skills
- Working knowledge of SaltStack configuration management.
