You will coordinate and perform surveillance utilizing wastewater-based epidemiology for SARS-CoV-2 and other pathogens.
Responsibilities
Coordinate surveillance efforts between IDOH, IDEPD, laboratory staff, wastewater treatment facilities, and academic partners.
Manage and analyze trends and correlations in data collected through routine surveillance and applied epidemiologic studies.
Monitor data reporting and correct quality control flags identified by the CDC NWSS system to ensure accurate uploads.
Partner with data analysts to manage and update wastewater dashboards and internal reports.
Prepare and disseminate written and oral reports, presentations, and educational trainings for health departments, utility operators, and the public.
Design and conduct applied epidemiologic studies and routine surveillance for public health topics.
Required Skills
Master’s degree in a relevant field (public health, biological sciences, or social sciences) with at least 2 years of public health experience.
Doctoral-level degree in epidemiology or other relevant fields.
Graduate or professional degree in a health-related field (RN, MD/DO, DDS/DMD, DVM, PhD, RS) with specific epidemiology training such as MPH, CDC EIS, or CSTE Applied Epidemiology Fellowship.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with at least 4 years of public health experience.
Bachelor’s degree in a non-relevant field with at least 6 years of public health experience.
Proficiency in SAS, ArcGIS, SQL, SPSS, R, or Python.
Knowledge of disease epidemiology, biology, and public health topics.
Knowledge of state laws, regulations, and federal public health guidance.
