Description

You will coordinate and perform surveillance utilizing wastewater-based epidemiology for SARS-CoV-2 and other pathogens.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate surveillance activities between IDOH, wastewater treatment facilities, academic partners, and local health departments.
• Manage and analyze trends and correlations in data collected through routine surveillance and applied epidemiologic studies.
• Monitor data reporting and correct quality control flags identified by the CDC NWSS system to ensure accurate uploads.
• Partner with data analysts to manage and update wastewater dashboards and internal reports.
• Design and conduct applied epidemiologic studies and participate in grant writing.

Required Skills

• Experience with epidemiologic surveillance and disease biology.
• Proficiency in SAS, R, Python, or Stata.
• Experience using SQL, SPSS, or EpiInfo.
• Ability to work with ArcGIS for spatial analysis.
• Knowledge of federal public health guidance and state laws/regulations.
• Experience with CDC Epidemiic Intelligence Service or similar applied epidemiology training.
• Master’s degree in a relevant field (Public Health, Biological Sciences, or Social Sciences) with 2+ years of public health experience, or equivalent advanced degree/experience combinations.
