Description

You will support WIC program operations by providing direct services to participants and ensuring policy compliance in Pierre, SD.

Responsibilities

• Complete certifications for low-risk participants by verifying income, identity, and residency eligibility.
• Conduct nutrition assessments, provide basic nutrition education, and assign appropriate food packages.
• Perform anthropometric and biochemical measurements and assess participant immunization status.
• Document participant data, issue food benefits, and serve as a liaison to WIC food vendors.
• Refer individuals to appropriate social services and community resources based on assessed needs.

Required Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent (Any Graduate level preferred).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite software applications.
• Knowledge of nutrition and health practices, including social and economic conditions affecting nutrition.
• Ability to gather, compare, and summarize data from multiple sources.
• Competency in basic bookkeeping and arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages).
• Strong literacy and communication skills to address the needs of diverse populations.
• Ability to operate modern office equipment and transcribe material from machine dictation.
• Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Skills

• Post-secondary education in a health-related field.
