Description

You will provide advanced L3 support for mission-critical 24x7 production databases hosted on Azure, using EnterpriseDB (EDB) PostgreSQL and PostgreSQL Community Edition.

This role is on-site.

Responsibilities

• Implement, configure, and administer EDB Postgres Advanced Server environments, including high availability solutions like Streaming Replication, Enterprise Failover Manager (EFM), and REPMGR clustering.
• Design and maintain disaster recovery strategies, performing restoration activities using pg_restore and Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR).
• Monitor and optimize database performance through configuration tuning, OS parameter adjustments, index optimization, and SQL query tuning.
• Manage database patch management, including minor and major PostgreSQL version upgrades, and perform routine maintenance such as VACUUM, ANALYZE, and REINDEXING.
• Proactively review log files to identify risks, security concerns, and performance bottlenecks, providing on-demand support for system failures and critical business events.

Required Skills

• 6+ years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA, with strong expertise in EnterpriseDB (EDB) PostgreSQL.
• Hands-on experience managing mission-critical 24x7 production database environments on Linux (RHEL/OEL 6, 7, 8) and Windows Server (2012, 2016, 2019).
• Deep knowledge of database installation, configuration, backup & recovery (pg_dump, pg_dumpall), and high availability/disaster recovery implementations.
• Proficiency in Shell Scripting for automation and operational tasks.
• Experience with performance monitoring tools, pgBench, and database observability solutions.
• Strong understanding of database security, access management, and compliance requirements.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills for complex production issues.

Preferred Skills

• Relevant PostgreSQL or EDB certifications.
• Experience with Azure Cloud database administration and enterprise-scale database migration projects.
