Description

You will lead the migration of applications from Windows Server 2008 to 2019/2022 within an IaaS environment.

Responsibilities

• Migrate IIS websites, Windows Services, and application components to updated server versions.
• Manage SQL Server migration considerations, including connections, instances, and dependencies.
• Evaluate and migrate message queues such as MSMQ or equivalent systems.
• Document the current environment, migration steps, and post-migration state.
• Collaborate with DevOps, development, and infrastructure teams to identify risks and remediation options.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on IIS administration, configuration, and migration experience.
• Proven track record migrating workloads between Windows Server versions.
• Experience setting up, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows Services.
• Practical understanding of SQL Server, including connection strings, permissions, and service accounts.
• Experience with message queues (IBM MQ, MSMQ, or similar).
• Familiarity with .NET technologies, networking, and Active Directory.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills to handle migration complexities.
• 8+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to CI/CD tools (TeamCity, Octopus Deploy) and Azure services (Terraform).
• PowerShell scripting for automation and configuration.
