Description

Own the end-to-end migration of Windows Server workloads and associated application dependencies from legacy environments to Windows Server 2019/2022.

Responsibilities

• Migrate and validate IIS websites, including application pools, bindings, authentication, and certificates.
• Reconfigure Windows Services, ensuring correct service accounts, permissions, and startup dependencies.
• Assess and resolve SQL Server application dependencies, including connection strings and access rights.
• Migrate message queues (MSMQ) and identify compatibility risks with remediation paths.
• Document existing environments, migration steps, and post-migration configurations for auditability.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of hands-on Windows infrastructure experience.
• Proven track record migrating Windows Server workloads from legacy to modern versions.
• Strong IIS administration skills, covering application migration and troubleshooting.
• Practical knowledge of SQL Server from an application dependency standpoint.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting Windows Services.
• Familiarity with MSMQ or equivalent enterprise queuing technologies.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including .NET applications from a hosting perspective.
• Understanding of Active Directory and networking fundamentals.

Preferred Skills

• PowerShell scripting for automation or configuration.
• Exposure to CI/CD tools (e.g., TeamCity, Octopus Deploy) and Azure IaaS.
