Description

You will design, build, and maintain complex mainframe environments while leading large-scale data center migrations.

This role is remote.

Responsibilities

• Lead mainframe hardware configuration, including CPU/CEC, DASD, VT/TAPE, HMC, and FICON Directors.
• Manage the hardware lifecycle, planning vendor coordination, and executing software/hardware upgrades.
• Design and implement z/OS data replication strategies, supporting Parallel Sysplex, Coupling Facility, SSI Clusters, and GDPS.
• Troubleshoot technical issues during data center migrations and provide ongoing hardware monitoring.
• Evaluate technology risks to develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience with IBM z/OS operating systems (versions 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, or 3.1).
• Proven experience leading z/OS data center migrations and building new mainframe environments.
• Expertise in IOCP, IOCDS, IODF, and HCD.
• Deep knowledge of replication services: IBM Flash Copy, Global Copy, Global Mirror, Metro Mirror, and Dell-EMC.
• Hands-on experience with mainframe hardware: CEC, DASD, VT/TAPE, HMC, and FICON.
• Experience stabilizing mainframe complexes across z/OS, zLinux, zVM, and zTPF.
• Strong understanding of network architecture, mainframe infrastructure, computing, storage, and storage fabric.
• Ability to manage hardware inventory and communicate project progress to stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

• Programming knowledge in REXX, COBOL, or ASBMLR.
• Familiarity with ITIL principles and processes.
