PURPOSE :-
The Analyst is responsible for working with Risk Management to produce accurate Load Forecasts for a National Competitive Energy Retailer. The position will also require participation in systems projects related to Load Forecasting in order to improve the quality of the information required to effectively manage the overall business.
I. MAJOR FUNCTIONS
A. Produce and assure the accuracy of daily short-term and weekly long-term Load Forecasts for the competitive natural gas and electric industry.
B. Analyze and explain the daily change in the Load Forecast and the underlying fundamental factors.
C. Develop tools and solutions to measure and monitor the quality of data inputs, calculations and forecast results.
D. Build and maintain statistical models for analyzing load forecasts and their inputs.
E. Execute and analyze Forecast Error Analysis * Absolute Error, MAD, MPE and MAPE.
F. Participate in special projects within the team, particularly in terms of improving load forecasting reporting and process improvements.
G. Implement industry best practices

IV. FUNCTIONAL PREREQUISITES
A. Minimum - Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or Economics. CFA/FRM/Masters degree preferred.
B. Strong overall computer skills * Advanced MS Excel, Access, SQL and VBA.
C. Logical reasoning and problem solving capabilities.
D. Strong analytical skills.
E. Ability to effectively work on multiple tasks.
F. Strong understanding of wholesale and retail energy markets.
G. Market specific load forecasting and settlement methodologies for Power and Gas a plus.
H. A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience, non-regulated - Competitive Energy Industry experience is highly preferred but not an absolute requirement.
