  Job Description
INTERNET SERVICE ENGINEERING AND OPERATIONS:
- You've worked in a company which ran an Internet based service on a 7x24 basis and
you are very familiar with deploying services in a Production environment.
- You are passionate about availability and uptime and understand how to effectivly measure and improve them
- You are familiar with being on call and taking escalations, troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- You understand and can articulate why Trouble Tickets are important.
- You've worked in a NOC or a SOC; You've managed Internet based services running at large scale (hundreds of devices)
- You know why Change management and Release processes are important,
- You are well versed in maintaining your code in Source code repositories and you can effectivly manage versioning and rollback.

LINUX / UNIX SYSTEMS ENGINEERING
- You've worked in close collaboration with a Product Development organization,
you understand software design, can effectively debug and give feedback on the running applications
- You are a fluent scripter who can quickly and effectively develop automation to handle routine tasks
- You are an expert in all Linux technologies, you can build RPMs, repos and Kickstart configutarions and
you've developed scalable and robust update and installation processes.
- You can design Network configurations for secure and reliable performance;
you are versed in setting up bonded NICs,trunking and using iptables for best effect.
- You are well versed in designing and implementing Secure linux installation
- Extra credit is you have experience developing Configuration Management systems


DATA CENTER MANAGEMENT
- You understand how DataCenters run, what makes a good DC and how to work with DC providers
- You have experience with Remote management technologies such as IPMI, iLO, KVMs, DRACs, Serial port consoles
- You understand Datacenter power and can articulate a strategy to effectivly deploy power in a DC


MONITORING TECHNOLOGIES
- You've implemented Nagios and are well versed in developing innovative tests to detect
outages in applications
- You know how to set up Cacti and understand the value of trending metrics
- You've worked with alarm management tools like Netcool and understand how they integrate
into an Ops organization
- You're familiar with Security tools like Snort and Tripwire


NETWORKING TECHNOLOGIES
- You understand how switching protocols like Spanning tree work, you know the difference between a Layer2 and Layer3
- You understand IP Routing and routing protocols, You've used BGP, OSPF, HSRP
- You've utilized Load balancers and understand how to effectively deploy and configure them
- You've implemented Firewalls, VPNs and secure SSH access.
- You are familiar with TCP, ports and connections. You can quickly use Netstat, tcpdump, iftop or your favorite tool to debug network performance issues.

INTERNET SYSTEMS:
- You are well versed in designing and implementing robust DNS
- You can setup and manage Apache, SSL and Certs.


CORPORATE SYSTEMS:
- You have configured and managed an SVN source code control system and understand how to
design build and release processes around it
- You are familiar with Bugzilla
- You understand Mail systems, MTAs, Mail clients and AV/AS. Extra credit if you've implemented Zimbra
- You've implemented OpenLDAP and can discuss schema designs.
- You've created a Filesharing system that keeps Mac, Linux, PC users and you all happy.
- You have designed and implemented a backup strategy using Online and offline technologies
