Title: Application Manager
Manages the development/configuration, implementation, integration and
support of the clients application software systems Cerner Millennium,
Great Plains and/or custom applications currently used by client.
Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of application development
projects and staff to ensure that project goals
are accomplished by performing the following duties personally or through
subordinate team members.
Responsible for successful delivery of assigned projects through management
of initiatives.
Based on original concept presented to this position, develops solution and
follows through
to final implementation, interfacing with all areas affected by the project.
Given scope and objectives, develops detailed work plans, schedules,
estimates,
and resource plans and produces and presents status reports for each project.
Communicates status to Information Systems executives and project
stakeholders.
Follows the IS approach to managing projects and adhering to quality
standards.
Reviews project deliverables from both direct staff and vendors.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Manages within overall priorities of projects which will be established by
the Vice President,
Information System and the Information Technology Executive Committee (ITEC).
2. Oversees development of the clients application systems through the full
system lifecycle.
3. Manages day-to-day activities of IS applications team to install,
configure and test software applications.
4. Works with the Vice President, Information System to understand
priority/sequencing of projects and
to manage implementation projects through the use of a consistent project
management framework.
5. Manages and prioritizes list of SCRs (System Change Requests) and
schedules staff*s time
appropriately to deliver post-system implementation changes.
6. Participates in application software selection processes.
7. Utilizes standard project management tools which address budgets, work
plans, staffing plans, communication plans, etc.
8. Manages within project charter which specifies goals, strategy,
objectives, staffing, scheduling,
deliverables, risks and allocation of available resources for this project.
9. Manages project personnel and vendor resources based on assigned duties,
responsibilities,
and scope of authority to ensure project progresses on schedule and within
budget.
10. Prepares project status reports, communicates status/issues to
constituents, and suggests
modifications of schedules as required while ensuring changes fit within
overall program plan.
11. Develops and maintains project documentation and ensures centralized
storage and indexing of documentation.
12. Establishes and ensures adherence to a standard application development
methodology for both packaged and customer application development.
13. Supports the creation of application system training materials
