  Job Description
As Operations and Maintenance (OandM) section lead on the Security Research and Engineering (SRE) team, this role entails coordination of technical tasks of the OandM section and as they relate to specific mission objectives as assigned by the SRE team lead. A Senior Security Tools Engineer must also engage in major initiatives and joint efforts with other divisions to accomplish SRE goals. This team member will support our client by:

* Leading a team of engineers to troubleshoot issues and maintain the operational capabilities of various security hardware and software tools, applications, and systems
* Maintaining switching and routing systems
* Maintaining server environment systems
* Configuring and scripting Linux systems for optimization
* Maintaining application licensing and product updates
* Building and repairing computer hardware, network and SAN systems
* Assigning and managing roles in Active Directory
* Performing technical security system application assessments
* Providing technical recommendations to the client to improve security system capabilities

This is a full-time, regular position with a company growing at roughly 15-20% per year.

Foundational Requirements:

* BS degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field and 6 years experience. Candidates with at least 8 years of strong related work experience will also be considered.

* US Citizenship (Required by Government Contract)

* SECRET Clearance

Technical Requirements/Skills:

The Senior Security Tools Engineer must have an advanced understanding of enterprise network/host security tools implementation, operations and maintenance. Due to the collaborative nature of this role, it is crucial that this team member possess well-developed communication skills (interpersonal, oral and written) and be able to work comfortably with executive-level management and technical engineers alike. Successful candidates will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

* Solid familiarity with implementation and operations of Network and Host-based Intrusion Detection Tools.
* Sound technical familiarity with one or more of the following systems, products and tools: Splunk, Enterasys Dragon, Niksun NetDetector, Nagios, IBM ISS, IBM SiteProtector, Lancope Stealthwatch, McAfee Foundstone, and McAfee Intrushield
* Strong TCP/IP networking skills, administrator-level knowledge of Linux and/or Windows
* Applied experience in application and database security implementation
* Experience designing LAN/WAN systems and network and security infrastructure
* Hands-on knowledge of configuration and network management with Cisco routers, switches, and hubs Cisco and Cisco IOS
* Knowledge of HP OpenView network monitoring tools
* Experience implementing security systems architectures in large enterprise environments
* Ability to grasp new technologies and the aptitude to interpret potential uses
* Well-developed oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
* Excellent client relationship management skills
* Highly organized and detail oriented
* Experience providing quality consulting services to customers

The following skills are a plus:
* Certified Information Security Systems Professional (CISSP) Certification
* Familiarity with Department of State systems architecture
* Familiarity with FISMA, FIPS, the NIST 800 series, OMB A-130, and other information security-related federal guidelines
* Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP)
* Federal client consultation experience
* VMware experience
