* The scope of the project will include carrying out Oracle related work, such as application design and development, application enhancement, bug fixes, application documentation, system and/or process documentation, skills transfer to Department IT staff, system enhancement and optimisation, etc., in connection with designated Department Oracle based systems.
* The main data applications currently run on a number of IBM AIX Servers using Oracle Forms version 6i and Oracle 8i databases but it is intended to upgrade the Oracle Forms and reports from version 6i to 10g. and the successful candidate will be expected to meet requirements of ideally both the Oracle 6i and Oracle 10g environments.
* The successful candidate will join the team working alongside the existing company's support team, providing assistance as required on foot of specific requisitions.
* The in-house team supports, maintains and enhances the Oracle systems on an ongoing basis, and will normally only require external assistance in respect of aspects of the job which require significant expertise, or when particularly heavy workloads arise.
The role includes
* The provision of advice and assistance on Oracle technical matters to IT staff;
* The implementation of enhancements to selected applications;
* The development of new applications, if required;
* Documentation of enhancements, solutions and assistance provided;
* The transfer of skills to company IT staff;
* The production of documentation to assist Department staff in using the various applications.
