  Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen in support of this local authorities continuing Transformation programme for an experienced Portfolio Manager to take the lead in the delivery of a complex portfolio of cross-cutting, high value projects. The main purpose of the role will be taking responsibility for managing the design and shaping of a service by building close working relationships with senior stake-holders, political members and partner organisations, to effect change as well as ensuring delivery to time, cost and quality across a diverse range of critical projects with multi-million pound benefits which have significant impact on the performance and outcomes of the council and its partners.
Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Ensure delivery of complex programmes of cross-cutting work with multi-million pound spend and benefit profiles
• Accountable for all elements of project delivery success within their portfolio, including management of all planning, delivery and implementation aspects
• Manage significant project related budgets (up to £20m) and provide strategic, inspirational leadership to large teams of multi-disciplinary employees from across the council (and partner organisations).
• Manage relationships with external suppliers and ensure appropriate skills and talent are identified to fulfil specific project requirements.
• Devise and own the strategic plan to develop clear transition states for the Transformation Programme and to identify and manage dependencies, gaps and pressures within the Transformation Programme thereby ensuring a consistent approach across the organisation.
• Maintain full awareness of the performance of individual projects, including the identification and resolution of risks, critical issues, and opportunities.

Experience within Social Care, Housing or Education would be an advantage.
