  Job Description
A technical specialist role exists to join an experienced team providing 3rd line support of the Systems Management toolset. The SCOM Technical Specialist will be responsible for managing and developing the SCOM 2012 environment, offering advice and guidance to system users as well as working with application teams to develop custom Management Packs. The SCOM Technical Specialist will also have involvement in projects delivering improvements to our service delivery, including moving towards a service based model for infrastructure delivery.

Role overview:
* Managing the SCOM environment
* Investigation and support of live issues
* Tuning of alerts and investigation of root causes
* Liaison with support and application teams to understand their monitoring and alerting requirements, and offer training in the tools and processes
* Develop custom application Management Packs to meet customer requirements
* Development and maintenance of automated application / service delivery
* Working within the ITIL framework

Essential skills overview:
* Extensive SCOM Support experience
* Microsoft System Center 2012 Operations Manager configuration and administration
* Savision Live Maps design experience
* SQL Server experience including creation of custom reports
* Training of technical support staff in use of SCOM as an Operator
* Advanced SCOM Management Pack authoring
* Strong systems analysis experience
* Service orientated customer facing skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Excellent documentation skills
* Effective Time Management

Desired Skills:
* SCOM 2007 - 2012 migration experience
* System Center 2012 Orchestrator experience
* Powershell scripting
* Windows 2012 Server administration
* System Center 2012 Configuration Manager experience
* Knowledge of Xmatters Notification engine
* ITIL v3 Foundation
* Experience of successfully working with project teams and to project deadline
