  Job Description
Head of Software Development required by a leading .com who are about to embark on a complete transformation project requiring the redevelopment of ALL existing ecommerce sites, and internal systems. Language wise, it's a mix of .NET, PHP, Java - likely to move much more towards a sole Java / PHP house but for this role is really does not matter what development language you're most proficient in as this is much more focussed towards Management.

The client are an ecommerce firm, they've owned their vertical market for the last 8 years, they are well recognised and up until now have been the market leader. Their leading status however is threatened due to the recent lack of investment/foresight in IT by previous senior management. One and half years ago they received a £50 (or so) million investment from a very reputable PE firm. This money is to be spent taking the company from where they are, ripping everything apart and rebuilding the foundations and all operating systems from the ground up. During this rebuild phase, the existing systems will be off-shored to a third party for all support related matters - thus allowing you to focus on rebuilding things from the ground up.

Here are the core traits and background you'll need to demonstrate to be considered for this role

1)A go-getter attitude with a very much 'can-do' approach to complex business decisions
2)A technologist at heart having earned your stripes in a development remit
3)A natural and experienced leader - demonstrate eh ability to build and retain a development team
4)An agile enthusiast - you'll be implementing (with help from the CTO) such an approach to both the development team and also the business
5)Business minded and the ability to translate business requirements to a technical team, and technical matters to the business
