  Job Description
My client has a vacancy for a DATA ENGINEER / SENIOR DATA ENGINEER to have a primary goal of enhancing and accelerating their data processing capabilities and scalability.

Your responsibilities will be hands-on and technical, covering areas from requirements gathering and design through to development, testing, deployment and the ongoing support and maintenance of their platform.

As a guide, you will have a minimum of around 5 years proven experience working with large data sets in a commercial environment, at least 2 years of which will have involved exposure to non-relational data technologies (such as Hadoop and SPARK) and, ideally, near real-time streaming data scenarios.

To be a serious candidate for this DATA ENGINEER / SENIOR DATA ENGINEER opportunity your skills/experience will be similar to -

* You will demonstrate strong knowledge and application of data development patterns and practices

*You will strive to consistently meet and exceed your own software development task delivery deadlines. You will plan and prioritise your tasks and collaboratively guide others in planning and prioritising their own work.

* You will strive to deliver high quality software that meets and exceeds expectations, taking pride in your work. You will assist others to achieve the same objective.

* You will be expected to assist less experienced members of the team to develop their own design, development, and documentation skills through supportive code reviews, discussions, and the authoring, identification and sharing of best-practice example code. You will guide collaborative design sessions to ensure objectives are met.

* Once you have demonstrated a sufficient level of knowledge of their software systems and infrastructure, and subject to invitation you may, at your discretion, volunteer to contribute to our 24x7 support offering (for additional compensation).

* You will be expected to be a self-sufficient, innovative, professional and dependable team member providing support and input where required.
