  Job Description
Role Purpose:
The Storage Team is part of the Technical Practice group in a large managed services company and is responsible for implementing and supporting all storage platforms across Europe covering customer dedicated solutions, shared storage platforms and Cloud platforms. The team are also responsible for management of the Recovery Services Storage Area Network.
This is a 3rd level support role with responsibility for supporting High Availability Storage environments on behalf of our Managed customers. Activities covered by the role include Design, Implementation, Configuration, Support, Maintenance and Administration of physical and virtual environments. The Storage team are responsible for the pro-active Management of the storage behind the client's Cloud Services, Customer owned Storage Area Networks as well as back-end storage for a multitude of company Products and Services.
The Storage Engineers work closely with other technical support teams within the Technical Practice, other Operational Teams, Solutions Architects, Pre-Sales, Professional Services Group, Project Management and Product Teams to ensure design and delivery of highly available solutions.
Engineers are required to monitor and evolve all standards, policies and procedures utilised within the Management of Production environments.

Responsibilities of the Storage Engineer:

Managed IT Services - Storage
Provide Support for Internal and External customer Storage environments both Virtual and Physical. Includes day to day management and support tasks, responding to alerts, upgrades, change and maintenance. Escalation for L1-L2 storage support engineers.

Design and Implementation
Assist Solutions Architects and Pre-Sales team on new prospects and designs as required, participate as required in the Technical Design Review process. Implement agreed solutions in line with design and project plan alongside other technical teams ensuring install follows best practice, is fully documented and presented to the team.

Test and Development of Managed Services
Involvement in new Technical Product Development projects alongside the Product Development Team. Help to keep company supported products matrix current by testing new to market hardware and software with a suite of management and monitoring tools to meet ever changing customer demand.

Professional Services
To undertake Technical Consultancy projects within your expert area as required.
Service Delivery Best Practices and Enhancements
To develop a good understanding of the delivery of Managed Services product offering and to advise and implement improved practices and enhancements as applicable.

Documentation, Process and Training
To create high quality technical documentation for all customer implementations and other technical projects. Create and test process and procedures and provide training to colleagues where appropriate.

Ticket Management
Ensure all tickets assigned to you are updated in a timely manner. Tickets status to be updated to reflect progress from start to finish. Ensure all tickets are closed with a high level of detail to record actions taken for reference purposes.

Professional Approach
Represent the team, department and organisation in a professional manner at all times.

Storage Engineer Candidate Requirements:
The following qualifications are required (or equivalent level of knowledge);
* Advanced knowledge of managing Cisco and/or Brocade storage fabric
* Advanced knowledge of configuring and managing any main vendor enterprise storage arrays including NetApp, IBM (Primary) and HP, EMC (Secondary)
* Storage Certifications (inc Cisco, NetApp, SNIA)
* Good knowledge of Storage Monitoring and Reporting Tools
* Good knowledge of storage architecture and performance troubleshooting.

The following qualifications are advantageous;
* VMWare VCP (vSphere4/5)
* Windows 2003/2008 MCP/MCITP
* Red Hat Linux RHCT or equivalent
* Networking Qualifications
Commercial experience gained within a Managed Service / High Availability enterprise production environment covering both Physical and Virtual environments
High levels of interpersonal skills
Innovative, creative and imaginative approach to solutions design and problem management
Generally adaptable approach, with ability to work under pressure
Willingness to accommodate a wide variety of tasks and duties, not necessarily specified in job descriptions - flexibility to work requirements
Self-motivated and able to work with a minimum of supervision
Willingness to work additional hours and adopt flexible patterns of work including participation in the Managed Services on-call rota
